Across our range of Talent Search initiatives, Queenslanders born between 2016 and 1994 (8-30 years old in 2024) are eligible for different programs.

Queenslanders aged 9 to 13 (born 2015 – 2011) are eligible for our Daredevils program. Those aged 13-23 (2011 – 2001) are eligible for our Olympic Talent Search. Queenslanders aged 15-25 (2009 – 1999) are eligible for our Olympic Thematic Talent Search.

Para-Sports are accepting athletes with an eligible impairment who are born between 2011 and 1994 (13 to 30 years). This means those who will be at least 13 in 2024 (born 2011) and no older than 30 in 2024 (born 1994).

You will not be eligible for this general Talent Identification Program. However, you may be eligible for some sport-specific programs such as our Daredevils program or our Thematic Talent Search program.

Remember, YouFor2032 is not the only way for Queensland athletes to get to the Olympic or Paralympic Games. There are already great talent pathways operating at the local, regional and state levels where athletes identified are given opportunities through the respective sporting organisations. Yes, the quest for the best will continue in the lead up to 2032.

We traveled all over Queensland in 2022 and 2023, and are heading back out to all areas of the state in 2024.

The reality of elite sport is that less than 10% of athletes will ever reach the podium at an international event, and even fewer of those will medal at an Olympic or Paralympic Games. At the QAS, while we are focused on developing our next generation of champions, it is important to us that each athlete who tests with us has a positive experience. To that end, every athlete who tests as part of our YouFor2032 Talent Search will:

1.    Receive a personalised report showing testing results compared to age-matched benchmarks*

2. Receive a contact listing of Regional Sport Development Officers or equivalent representatives from within each sport to help you start your sporting journey

3. Be able to trial at future YouFor2032 Talent Search events

4.     Access to YouFor2032 educational material aimed at parents,  guardians, coaches, and athletes with resources to contribute to your potential success.

Absolutely! Your sporting clubs, and State and National Sporting Organisations are always scanning athletes within their own sports and competition results to identify and support athletes of the future. If you perform well, you are very likely to be noticed and supported.

In the beginning, no, you shouldn’t change a thing! If you do get selected by a sport you will first get an opportunity to participate in a three (3) month trial period – however, there is no guarantee that you will be invited to continue beyond this 3 months. An extra sport can actually be somewhat helpful for developing your sporting abilities! However, in the long term, if you are a real talent, it will be necessary to prioritise and commit to your main sport. This will be done in a progressive way in consultation with you, your family and your coaching team.

We have done our best to provide a testing location for all Queenslanders, across the State. In some very remote locations, we know that athletic talent is definitely out there. We are currently developing a new approach to support talent in these locations.

You are welcome to attend any of our testing sessions  – if you are able to travel to a session, you can test outside of your region.

In the beginning, no you won’t need to relocate. Sports are committed to making this program as inclusive as possible to allow as much talent to be developed irrespective of where you live. This means that Sports will make as many modifications as reasonably possible to help get you started and confident within your new sport. Longer term, if you are a real talent, you will find that you might need to travel more for your competitions or high level training. If you end up making a national squad or team, you may be required to relocate to ensure you are in the best possible environment to develop your sporting expertise.

YouFor2032 is about opportunity and choices, but never any guarantees. We want to provide you with an opportunity to see how good you could be. There are already great talent pathways operating at the local, regional and state levels where athletes are identified and given opportunities. If you perform well, you are very likely to be noticed and supported.

It is not possible for every sport to be supported by the YouFor2032 program. The QAS has made a commitment to supporting those sports which increase the probability of developing future Queensland medallists. As an athlete, if you are looking to continue in a sport that is not listed or you are outside the age range for the Olympic and Paralympic sports, just stay put and remain active there. Sports are already great at identifying talent for the future. Alternatively, you can consider applying through the YouFor2032 program to see if you have what it takes to potentially make it in a different sport!

Yes. This Talent Identification Program is designed to identify potential talents for both the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Paralympics Australia are strongly committed to supporting this program and will be providing their expertise at all stages of the program.

Please note that assessment of Paralympic applications occurs on an ongoing basis. Paralympic assessments will be undertaken in partnership with Paralympics Australia and other State and National Sporting Organisations.  Those who submit an application as an aspiring Paralympic athlete will be contacted directly via email with further information about upcoming events that match their interests and eligibility.

There are limited opportunities in each location YouFor2032 visits. We recommend registering as soon as possible so you don’t miss out!

The QAS will keep an eye on those locations filling fast, and may include another testing session if demand is there. However, we can’t guarantee another session will open up. What we can guarantee is YouFor2032 aspires to be a multi-cycle event in the lead up to 2032!
